   ‘’The Parent/Child relationship is a precious thing worth spending some time and thought on.  Often we are so busy just being parents that we don't have the time and space to think about parenting.’’ 

  With a strong belief in the value of Family and a desire to support and nurture the Parent/Child relationship, the Weston Seventh-day Adventist Church is pleased to offer three special and interactive evening conversations with Karline Farbach who has worked for 6 years in private practice for Family Counselling with special emphasis in Play Therapy with Children. 

  Karline is trained in Teacher Support and Educational Assessments.

  These are not Lectures.  Each evening is planned to help carve out time for reflection on concerns parents may have. 

  Conversations will cover a variety of themes such as:

  When your children push your buttons

  Supporting your child to more confident learning

  When children are in crisis
  

  These evenings are intended to be relaxed and informal.  You can be as interactive as you wish or simply a listening observer.

  Members of the Weston Seventh-day Adventist church raised in excess of £700.00 this last week all of which will be used to help the plight of Haitians trying to pull their lives back together following the 7.0 magnitude earthquake last week.

   

  "Extensive displacement and the lack of clean drinking water in Haiti’s devastated capital of Port-au-Prince are rapidly contributing toward a mounting humanitarian crisis, as survivors struggle to find access to water and safe areas to stay," states John Torres, Senior Public Relations Manager for ADRA, The Adventist Development and Relief Agency.  While ADRA already had staff on the ground before the earthquake they have been supplemented by an emergency response team who arrived last Friday.

   

  The money donated to the ADRA emergency response fund is helping ADRA to stage relief operations at the campus of the Haitian Adventist University in Carrefour, located in Port-au-Prince, where some 30,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) have sought refuge since the quake struck on 12 January.

   

  ADRA partner, GlobalMedic, is already working to distribute more than 2 million water purification tablets and other water cleaning systems.  In addition, a team of doctors and emergency specialists has already begun providing medical assistance to the injured. 

  
  

  The group plans to set-up a 22 ft x 42 ft inflatable field hospital to focus on restoring medical services and infrastructure.  

  
  

  Local aid groups will receive training on the installation, operation and maintenance of the gear so that it remains operational for as long as it is needed.
